Sony announced as part of its recent financial report that PlayStation 5 shipments have surpassed 80.3 million units worldwide. 2.5 million units were shipped in the three months leading to June 30. Back in December 2023, Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed that the PlayStation 5 console has sold over 50 million copies since its launch in 2020. The company states that it is thanks to the support of PlayStation fans globally.

There are 123 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network as of June 30, 2025, which is up seven million from the 116 million active users during the same period the previous fiscal year.
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 software combined sold 65.9 million units during the three months ended June 30, 2025, which is up 12.3 million from the 53.6 million software sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 6.9 million units were first-party titles, which is up 0.9 million from the 6.0 million units sold during the same period the previous fiscal year. 83 percent of software sales were full game software digital downloads, which is up three percent from the same period the previous fiscal year.
