Phil Spencer thinks Xbox Game Pass is “Really Healthy”

In a recent interview with GameInformer, Xbox Head Phil Spencer spoke about Xbox Game Pass and how he believes it has enhanced the gaming industry by providing players with a diverse library of games to choose from.

At this time, an Xbox Game Pass subscription offers players a selection of over 350 games, from big AAA titles like Kingdom Hearts, Halo: Reach, and The Witcher III: Wild Hunt to smaller indie titles that most gamers would pass over if they were not accessible through the service.

“We see players willing to take risks on new games and new genres because when you’re already in the subscription it’s as easy as clicking on something, downloading the game, and starting to play,” Spencer told GameInformer. “The diversity of content in Game Pass, the genres in Game Pass, the things people play, I think it’s a really healthy part of our industry.”

Spencer’s words likely touch the souls of gamers, who can appreciate the value they get out of a monthly subscription fee to access games for which they would pay a premium price for individually. However, the ratio of fun to money spent is not the only thing players can appreciate about the Xbox Game Pass.

“When we started Game Pass, we thought the adjective gamers were going to love about Game Pass was ‘value,’” Spencer said. “What it’s really turned into is a community that wants a curated set of great games.”

In November, Gaming Instincts author Dylan Warman wrote in depth about the Xbox Game Pass and how it has solidified Xbox’s future success in an expensive industry. On December 3, Halo: Reach and the Master Chief Collection arrived on the subscription service.
