Overwatch will release on the Switch on October 15, 2019.

Original Story:

While rumors have been swirling for awhile that Blizzard Entertainment’s multiplayer shooter, Overwatch, will be releasing on the Switch, it seems that some unofficial confirmation has surfaced. Last week we received a look at a listing of some Switch merchandise featuring the Overwatch design which seemed to all but confirm the port’s existence. However, the latest news seems to come from reliable sources through Kotaku that unofficially confirms the online shooter will be making its way over to the Nintendo hardware.

While Kotaku is reliable, they seem to point towards today’s upcoming direct showcase will unveil the game heading to the Switch. As reported yesterday, Nintendo is set to air a brand new Nintendo Direct that will last around 40 minutes, which is more than enough time to reveal new games coming tot he Switch, including the massively popular Overwatch title.

Along with the Amazon listing leak of the Overwatch themed Switch gear and Kotaku grabbing some confirmation via their own sources, a ResetEra post shows a Eurogamer confirmation for the game, as well as the release date for the game which is said to be next month. All of these leaks and rumors have officially declared Overwatch on the Switch as one of the worst kept secrets in recent years.

As for now, this is mere speculation but seems pretty substantial considering the leaks. We’ll have to wait and see during tonight’s Direct showcase as we’ll likely hear more on the title then. The release date leaked for the multiplayer shooter to land on the Switch has been noted as October 18, 2019. We’re unsure what all will come packed with the 3-year old title, but we’re assuming a hefty dose of DLC and updates will launch alongside the release of the game.
