Nintendo Switch 2 Specs Reportedly Leaked

Nvidia had yet another leak yesterday, and one of the links seems to include the source code for Nvidia’s DLSS technology. Users have noticed a “NVN2” mentioned in the source files which is allegedly the graphics API for the next generation of Nintendo Switch 2 or Switch Pro consoles.

Disclaimer: The information found in this article is just speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Some users spotted that the NVN2 API has been designed to work Nvidia’s Ampere GPU architecture and supports both Ray Tracing and DLSS technology. Also mentioned are the T234/T239 SOC’s (System On a Chip) that were allegedly slated to be used in the Nintendo Switch 2 console. The Nintendo Switch 2 has also been previously rumored to support DLSS.

The SOC’s will be a custom Orin design and the two possible codenames for them are either Dane or Drake, though some believe that the SOC’s mentioned and the codenames were specific to Nintendo Switch Pro, which at this point may have been cancelled for something that is truly next gen.

The T234 is reported to feature 2048 Ampere GPU CUDA Corse and 12x ARM Cortex-AE (Hercules) 64-bit cores. The custom designed T239 based on this is rumored to have slightly different specifications. The SOC seems to be using the Ampere GA10F GPU and it is suggested that it uses the same SEC8N rate as ORIN, or 1024 FP32 rate, which is half of Orin. It is likely to also carry AV1 support.

Of course, even though these rumors are claimed to be accurate, there is no way to really tell if these are indeed the specs for Nintendo’s new system. They could refer to a cancelled or unreleased version, and a newer updated version could exist that is being worked on. All we can do is wait on an official announcement from Nintendo.
