The manga based action-battle arena fighter from publisher Arc System Works and developers APlus now has an official release set in place for Japan. The upcoming Kill la Kill game adaption to the popular anime series will see itself launch on this coming July for Japanese audience, and in typical fashion, will head over seas later in the year.

For fans of the series, the narrative will be a completely new experience apart form the main story in the manga. Players will take on the role of original protagonist Ryūko Matoi’s rival, Satsuki Kiryuin. Both characters were just announced to have dual-wielding alternates, as well.

Along with the main story arc, fighters will also be able to compete in a free-for-all type of offline battle, either against one AI opponent or local multiplayer against a second player.

With a combination of flashy range attacks and traditional melee style combat, players can also take to the online servers. Standard and rank matches will set the tone for what to expect when duking it out in online multiplayer brawls. And for those looking to hone their skills, there will also be a solid dose of tutorial and practice options to help squeeze out the very best combos and battle tactics for your favorite players.

What may be most unique about Kill la Kill: IF is the incredibly satisfying anime look represented in the visuals. As if you’re controlling the anime itself, the game will also allow players to participate in iconic scenes from the show with the option to replay them as often as you’d like. For the die-hard Kill la Kill fans, this is shaping up to be one arena fighter not to be missed.

Kill la Kill: IF is set for release on July 25, 2019 in Japan, with a western release date pending for later 2019. The game is launching on the PS4, Switch and PC.
