Hideo Kojima Says The OD “Knock” Trailer Should be Watched “A Hundred Times”

In a recent interview with Nikkei Xtrend, director Hideo Kojima shared that the latest trailer for Kojima Productions’ upcoming horror title, OD, contains a “big hint” about the game’s plot, one that viewers will need to watch a hundred times to uncover. “I think when you first watch the OD trailer, it appears to be a horror game,” Kojima said. “However, the system it uses is unlike anything you’ve seen before. Everything is created using a game engine, and while it is a game, the underlying system is entirely unique. This is why we’ve developed a completely new medium in collaboration with Microsoft.” Kojima continued, “I can’t say too much more or Mr. Phil [Spencer] will be upset with me. But if you watch the teaser trailer several times, there’s a clue hidden within it. I can’t reveal exactly what it is, but if you watch it 100 times… At the end of the trailer, it reads ‘for all players and screamers.’ That’s another key hint.”

The game’s details:

A Hideo Kojima game, OD explores the concept of testing your fear threshold, and what it means to OD on fear – while blurring the boundaries of gaming and film. The new teaser for OD also reveals Sophia Lillis (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), Hunter Schaffer (Euphoria) and Udo Kier (Flesh for Frankenstein), who will play the lead roles in the upcoming project.

“We are working with Xbox Game Studios and their cloud gaming technology to take on the challenge of creating a very unique, immersive, and totally new style of game—or rather, a new form of media,” said Kojima Productions game creator and founder Hideo Kojima in a press release.
