In a recent episode of the Button Mash podcast, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier noted that Grand Theft Auto 6 is not yet considered “content complete.” He drew parallels to the development cycle of Rockstar Games’ previous title, Red Dead Redemption 2. “In the last decade, with Red Dead Redemption 2, if you look at the history there, they announced it for fall 2017, then it slipped to spring 2018, and then it slipped again to fall 2018, before finally launching in October of that year,” said Schreier. “So I wouldn’t be super shocked if that is what happens again this time around.”
This is a complete misunderstanding of what I said, which is that I wouldn't be shocked if GTA6 *does* come out this fall, following the same delay pattern as RDR2. Of course another delay is possible. It's a video game. But this blog post is very misleading (just reach out to me – it's not hard!)

“This is a big and complicated game,” he continued. “The last I heard, it was still not content complete. That is to say that people were still finishing things up, still finalizing levels and missions, and determining what’s going to make it into the game.” “It’s really hard to say [when the game will launch] right now,” Schreier added. “I don’t think anyone at Rockstar could tell you with 100% certainty that they will make it out in November. But it feels a little more real than fall 2025 did.”
Schreier later clarified his comments in a post on BlueSky, stating that he wouldn’t be surprised if a delay does not happen, rather than suggesting that a delay is inevitable due to the game not being content complete. Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch on November 19, 2026.
