Gang of Dragon Studio Website Goes Offline

As spotted online, it seems the official website for Nagoshi Studio’s GANG OF DRAGON has gone offline. This follows the studio’s YouTube channel being taken down a few weeks ago and reports that NetEase has ceased funding for the game. As a result, the game may be at risk of cancellation, as a new funding source has likely not been secured. Alternatively, the project may have been put on hiatus while the studio searches for new funding. While the studio’s Twitter account and the game’s Steam page remain active, Nagoshi Studio has yet to comment on the game’s status or address the reports.

According to a past Bloomberg report, NetEase stopped funding GANG OF DRAGON last month. The company reportedly said it will “cut off funding” to the studio due to the increasing development costs and overhead required to complete the game, as well as the fact that the studio has yet to ship a title. The report claims NetEase discovered that the game would require an additional $44.4 million to be completed, which prompted the company to cut ties with the studio. However, the report’s sources also claim that the studio intends to look for funding elsewhere and that NetEase has allowed the studio to continue development on the title while it seeks funding.

However, NetEase will only give up the license for the game if the studio can “pay its way out.” Nagoshi Studio, founded by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of the Yakuza franchise, was established on November 1, 2021. GANG OF DRAGON was revealed at The Game Awards in December 2025 and is currently slated for release on PC via Steam, with additional details and platforms yet to be announced.
