Fortnite Season 3 Launch Delayed Again

Epic Games has announced that Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 3 will be arriving a week past the original release date. Now the release date is set for June 11 rather than June 4, though, Epic confirmed a special event called The Device for June 6 at 2:00 PM EST.

Also known as the Doomsday Event, The Device will take place within the Fortnite game as their end of season event. Participants were asked to arrive at least 30 minutes early as space will be extremely limited.

It is unclear yet as to what Season 3’s theme will be, or what it will feature and change. However, Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 2 was met with a hugely positive response; it featured a spy theme and story, as well as a massive concert featuring Travis Scott.

Each season of Fortnite spans across 10 weeks on average, featuring a $9.50 battle pass and cosmetics unique to the season.

This is not the first time Epic has extended a season. Season 2 was extended past its original release date as well. Additionally, this is Season 3’s second delay. However, Epic has confirmed that around 1,000 employees are now working at home, undoubtedly factoring into the season’s delay.

While fans await patiently for the new season, Epic urges players to take this time to complete Season 2’s battle pass.

“Before the new Season, don’t forget to complete your Battle Pass Challenges and lock in appearance choices for Brutus, TNTina, Meowscles, Skye, Midas, and Maya. There’s still time to complete the recently-added Location Domination and Storm The Agency Challenges.”

Since Fortnite’s original release in 2017, the game has rose to an average of 78 million players every month, beating out games like League of Legends and World of Warcraft. The game has since been confirmed as a launch title for next-gen consoles.
