Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have announced new changes for Elden Ring Nightreign. The developer announced an upcoming update that reduces difficulty of The Deep of Night difficulty mode by allowing players voluntarily decrease their depth level by one. Depth 1 players matched Depth 2 players or above will also no longer suffer point loss. Additionally, the update adds new Rank demotion protection, among other things. The rank loss protection will be applied for 1 defeat for Depth level 3, and 2 defeats for Depth levels 4 & 5.
The full details:
Nightfarers,
An issue resulting in your Depth level ranking not increasing after a victory in the Deep of Night mode has been identified.
An upcoming update will bring a temporary fix to this issue, as well as quality of life changes for this mode.
The following changes will be included:
A new feature to voluntarily decrease your Depth ranking by one level.
Rank demotion protection: When reaching Depth levels 3, 4 and 5, you will be granted a rank loss demotion protection. This will prevent you from losing a Depth level after a defeat that would trigger this loss. The rank loss protection will be applied for 1 defeat for Depth level 3, and 2 defeats for Depth levels 4 & 5.
This protection also applies even after reaching these levels again after a Depth level demotion.
If a Depth level 1 player is matched with higher ranking players during a Depth level 2+ expedition, the level 1 player will not lose points upon defeat.
Steam players will be able to continue an ongoing session even if they get disconnected from the Steam servers due to a Steam server maintenance or outage.
