In a recent Bloomberg interview, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke revealed that the newly announced RPG Divinity is planned to be an early access launch like its previous title Baldur’s Gate 3. Additionally, it is unlikely to launch next year, and the development time for the title will be lower. “I think three to four years is much healthier than six years,” he said. Vicke also reiterated that the game is the studio’s biggest game yet and that it is a turn based game being made on a new engine. “This is going to be us unleashed, I think.” He added. “It’s a turn-based RPG featuring everything you’ve seen from us in the past, but it’s brought to the next level.”” I think this one is going to be way better.”
The game’s details:
The gods are silent. Rivellon bleeds. New powers stir.
Built by the team who brought you Baldur’s Gate III, Larian Studios unchains its ambitions to bring you an RPG with greater breadth and depth than ever before.
At least, that’s the plan.
While Divinity is a brand new game that doesn’t require experience with previous Larian titles, those who’ve played Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II will be able to enjoy greater understanding and continuity.
Studios founder and game director Swen Vincke commented on the initial announcement in a press release:
“Despite our long history with the series, this is our first game entitled ‘Divinity. We’re ready to bring everything we’ve done previously into one place. This marks the beginning of something with more breadth, depth, and intimacy than anything we’ve created before. We’ve been building toward this moment ever since we took our fate into our own hands. This is the Divinity we’ve always wanted to make and you’re going to have loads of fun with it.”
