Digimon Survive Gets Japanese Release Date

According to Gematsu, the latest issue of V-Jump recently revealed that the upcoming strategy RPG Digimon Survive will be released for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on July 28 in Japan. The game will release sometime this year in the west, but a specific release date is yet to be revealed. Digimon Survive was first announced back in 2018. The game was delayed a couple of times with several studio changes. It was originally being developed by Witchcraft before Hyde took on the project.

Producer Kazumasa Habu previously requested fans to wait a little while longer back in February, saying:

“In response to our call for inquiries, we’ve received a number of questions regarding the development status of Digimon Survive. We’re very sorry for keeping you waiting even though you’re looking forward to it. We apologize again for not providing any new information and/or keeping you waiting. We sincerely apologize for the delay.”

As for the details of the game, producer Kazumasa Habu went into detail about the game during a Q&A Segment at Digimon Con transcribed by Gematsu back in February. Habu claims that the game “consists of text adventures and tactics battles, and the story is divided into chapters” and that “the volume of text adventure and tactics battle is about 7:3, and the game is mainly text adventure.”

Additionally, Habu stated that the game’s story will have 12 chapters, and each route will take about 40 hours, with about 80 to 100 hours to complete all routes. The game will have a total of 113 trainable monsters, and there will be a New Game+ function. Unfortunately, there are no multiplayer or communication battles in the game, and It will not be fully voiced.

Digimon Survive is set to release on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 28 in Japan and sometime in the West this year.
