Celebrating their 30th anniversary, Bungie has released a massive patch for their live service title Destiny 2. The patch offers some of the biggest balancing patches that the game has seen to date, as well as changes to exotic weapons, ability overhauls,  and plenty of new content that should attract fans of the game back.

The biggest new addition to the game celebrates the 30 years of Bungie in the form of weapons and armor. Several games from Bungie have received crossover weapons such as the Clymore from Myth, and the shotgun from another Bungie franchise, Marathon. And yes, Halo will also be spoken for in this crossover such as a new sidearm inspired by the games Magnum, as well as a Legendary Trace rifle, a Battle Rifle-inspired pulse rifle, and a weapon inspired by the energy sword.

Several Exotic weapons have seen reworks for the game as well. Two fan-favorite exotics, the Sleeper Simulant and Whisper of the Worm, will be getting big buffs in the future. A relatively new weapon, Cryosthesia 77K, will be seeing a major rework. A host of other exotics are getting minor tweaks that the company has promised to offer big impacts, such as Arbalest linear fusion rifle getting intrinsic anti-barrier perk.

One of the fan-favorite weapons from the original destiny, the Gjallarhorn, will also be making a return after being absent from Destiny 2 when the game launched 4 years ago. A new dungeon is also being added and will act as the mission players need to complete to unlock the Gjallarhorn.

Finally, among the biggest changes coming, is a change to how ability cooldowns work. This is partially being done in anticipation of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen which will see Bungie switch Light subclasses over to the new Stasis system. Ever ability will see changes to cooldowns, with Bungie able to tweak and tune the individually as the need fits. Cooldowns will reflect the power of abilities and supers with more powerful abilities taking a longer cooldown.

This is only a fraction of the changes that have been added to the game, and you can check the full patch notes here. Those looking to jump back into the title might now have the perfect excuse to do so. Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, the game’s next big expansion, is currently set to release on February 22, 2022.
