Cyberpunk 2077 Receives “Mostly Positive” On Steam

The latest game from CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077, has had a very rocky road since it launched in November of 2020. While hiding in there was what could have been an enjoyable game, technical issues and extremely poor performance on consoles kept most players from seeing any of that. However, a year on and the game seems to be getting a far warmer reception, at least when it comes to its PC release.

Finding itself among Steam’s top 10 bestsellers, Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be finding more love will it finds itself on sale on the platform. Finding itself at the far more appealing price tag of $30 dollars than its usual full price of $60, players seem much more willing to give it a chance and are finding that the patches, updates, and tweaks that have been made since the game released has actually made it a better functioning and therefor more enjoyable title.

The company has enjoyed a decent stream of new reviews for their game, most of which are positive, which if you listened to people that dropped off shortly after release, you might not believe was possible. By no stretch of the imagination has the game been fixed to perfection, by it reflects that it has been moving in the right direction.

On console, the game has been improved as well though it’s still problematic compared to that of the PC. On base models of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, the game still runs relatively poorly. If you are lucky enough to own a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X it runs a lot better, but the upgraded version meant to take advantage of those consoles has been delayed into next year. All that being said, in the USA at least, these versions of the game are discounted further at Gamestop to $9.98.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto once famously stated “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” While this is a great statement to support developers who choose to take their time to finish a project, it is not necessarily true anymore. Similarly this year, No Man’s Sky completed several year journey from mostly negative reviews to mostly positive as they continued to upgrade their game.
