Publisher Rogue Games and developer Subcult Join have announced Cookie Cutter Overkill Edition. It is an enhanced edition of the Metroidvania game Cookie Cutter and will launch with new content sometime this spring for Nintendo Switch. The new content will also be added to Cookie Cutter on other platforms as updates. An announcement trailer was also released. Cookie Cutter first launched on December 14, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
Rogue Games CEO Matt Casamassina commented on the announcement in a press release:
“We’ve been blown away by the positive response to Cookie Cutter and we’re very excited to be releasing the Overkill Edition for the Nintendo Switch,” “All of the new content, features, and enhancements provide an even richer gaming experience.”
The game’s details:
Switch players will finally get their chance to punch, stab, slice, and maul enemies as Cherry, a take-no-prisoners fembot trying to survive a twisted planet on the brink of destruction.
Developed by Subcult Joint, the PAX West and NYX award-winning Cookie Cutter is a gorgeous hand-drawn techno-pop-punk post-kawaii Metroidvania. Play as the heroine Cherry on a quest for revenge as you run, jump, explore, and fight your way through a beautifully blood-soaked world.
Cookie Cutter‘s highly anticipated and requested release for the Nintendo Switch will feature an array of features, enhancements and improvements to both its gameplay and story.
These updates (and upgrades) include:
- Fully voiced dialogue for every character in the game.
- New map features including the ability to gauge completion status.
- Brand new special moves and upgrades for Cherry.
- New cinematics adding more style and background to the story.
- Tons of gameplay tweaks and progression balancing.
- Nintendo Switch-specific easter eggs.
- Hidden game mode where you discuss your problems with the enemy instead of resorting to violence. -(Just kidding.)
