Chrono Trigger Remake Seemingly in Development

During a recent interview on Friday, Chrono Trigger original writer Yuji Horii accidentally revealed that a remake of the 1995 RPG Chrono Trigger remake may be in development or may be planned. According to a recent Reddit post, during the interview, Horii “let this information slip” and the host whispered to Horii who then seemed shocked at his mistake. The translator then allegedly asked for a confirmation from Horii who gave a s hocked look and the translator commented: ‘You have heard nothing.’”

Back in March, Square Enix posted on Twitter to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Chrono Trigger. The game first launched in 1995 for the Super Famicom. The post also notes that players can look forward to “a variety of projects” that will “go beyond the world of the game”. Chrono Trigger is available now for PC via Steam, iOS, and Android.

UPDATE: As spotted by Gematsu on Twitter it appears the information was not a reveal but a mistake from the interpreter. A link to the livestream was also provided. “Late update: footage from the event is out, and Horii himself never actually says anything about a remake of Chrono Trigger (like at all—it was all the interpreter),” reads the Gematsu post. “Sorry to burst everyone’s bubble.”

The game’s details:

Taking hold of the girl’s pendant, Crono bravely follows in pursuit. But the world into which he emerges is the one of four centuries before.
