Assassin’s Creed Devs Joining Stadia Games and Entertainment Studio

Attempting to bring as much skill and talent to the table as possible for Google Stadia, Stadia Games and Entertainment has reportedly taken some senior Assassin’s Creed developers into their fold.

Originally reported by VGC (Video Games Chronicles), former Assassin’s Creed and EA Star Wars producer—Jade Raymond—has established Stadia Games and Entertainment to herald in Google Stadia’s first-party content. The studio is headquartered in Montreal.

In addition, former executive producer of the Assassin’s Creed franchise (Assassin’s Creed 2 to Unity)—Sébastien Puelwill perform the duty of director general of Stadia Games and Entertainment.

Moreover, Francois Pelland will take on the role of head of production. Pelland is the former executive director at Ubisoft Quebec (Assassin’s Creed Syndicate). He also worked as a senior producer for Assassin’s Creed 3 and an executive producer for South Park: The Fracture but Whole.

Another addition to the studio is Mathieu Leduc. Leduc will be an art director for Stadia Games and Entertainment after his extensive experience directing the art for the first two Watch Dogs titles and being assistant art director for the original Assassin’s Creed.

Currently, Google Stadia’s arsenal consists of third-party games, such as Mortal Kombat 11. After a rocky launch (despite the device’s Founder Edition selling out worldwide) Google’s debut gaming system is going to need a lot of TLC in order to compete with console goliaths Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony.

So far, the studio has not revealed any details regarding its first-party games, save for Jade Raymond telling GamesIndustry.biz that “it’s very important for first-party games, in my opinion, to be games that wouldn’t be possible on any other platform. I think that’s what’s really exciting and why we’re building out the first-party teams.”
