Apex Legends Gets its First Esport Series

FACEIT announces the first licensed Apex Legends esports Tournament in the FACEIT Pro Series. The tournament will have a $50,000 prize pool that will feature 16 esport teams that include the following:

  • 100 Thieves
  • Cloud9
  • Complexity
  • Counter Logic Gaming
  • Dignitas
  • Fnatic
  • G2
  • G
  • Immortals
  • Misfits
  • NRG
  • T1
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Solomid

The last two teams will be determined by a two-day qualifier event that will feature teams from the Apex Pro Discord Channel.

The FACEIT Pro Sereis: Apex Legends competition will be a series of $5,000 tournaments that will run for eight weeks while the remaining $10,000 prize pool will go to the highest scoring team for the event.

The first event in the Pro Series starts at 2pm PST/5pm EST on May 31. There will then be a break that will allow for the ECS Season 7 CS:GO finals, but after that the Apex Legends tournament will continue on June 14 and will continue until July 26.

FACEIT will be broadcasting the event with CS:GO casters James Bardolph and Daniel ‘DDK’ Kapadia. The players competing in the event will also be streaming from their own Twitch channels, so you can watch your favorite team member during the tournament by watching the game from their individual perspective.

Apex Legends has been around for a few months and has not seen much within the competitive scene. Maybe now the game’s popularity will gain some new momentum from the competitive side of things. In the end, FACEIT has a lot on its plate in order for the Apex Legends Pro Series to seriously take off. Of course FACEIT was involved with the organization of the T1 x FACEIT Apex Legends Invitational, which was one of the first competitive events for Apex Legends at the time. Well for now we can only anticipate which team will win and hopefully someone will come home with the final $10,000 prize.
