A Metal Gear Solid Film Has Been Greenlit By Sony

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid has been greenlit by Sony. Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, known for their work on the Final Destination: Bloodlines series, will serve as directors, and Sony Pictures will develop films across all the studio’s labels. The film will be produced by Avi Arad and Ari Arad, who have worked on game adaptations including Borderlands and The Legend of Zelda.

The directors commented on the announcement, saying:

“We are honored to be partnering with the incredible executive team at Sony. Metal Gear Solid was nothing short of a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece that forever revolutionized video games. We are thrilled and honored to bring Hideo Kojima’s iconic characters and unforgettable world to life.”

Sony’s Sanford Panitch, President of the Motion Picture Group, added:

“Zach and Adam are thrilling storytellers, masters of visuals and suspense, and two of the most impressive director/producers working today. With projects across all the company’s film labels, we are so happy to create a home for them, and proud to have them as part of the Sony family.”

Konami announced earlier this year that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will launch on August 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The collection includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, the HD Collection version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. An announcement trailer highlighting the included titles and updates in the collection was also released.
