Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Venom is Seemingly Still in Development

In a recent interview with Love It Film on YouTube, Miles Morales voice actor Nadji Jeter revealed that a Venom game was previously in development but was seemingly scrapped following the passing of Venom’s actor in the Spider-Man game series, Tony Todd. However, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier responded to these claims on ResetEra by saying, “This isn’t true.” It is unclear which part of the claims he is disputing. For now, based on these reports, the game may still be in development at Insomniac.

Back in 2023, over 1.3 million stolen internal Insomniac files were leaked to the internet following a recent hack by the ransomware group Rhysida. The documents were leaked after Insomniac Games refused to pay for the return of these files which amount to 1.67 terabytes of data. These files include confidential information about several of the studio’s upcoming projects, including several images, alpha footage, and concept art, as well as financial information, projections, release dates, and more. A significant part of the leak reveals a Venom game is in development along with several Spiderman titles in the pipeline.

The Venom game is called Venom: Lethal Protector and will seemingly lead into Spider-Man 3 following the events of Spider-Man 2. The title is targeting a late 2025 release window and similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, will be a short standalone title that will last about 8-10 hours and will be priced at $50.

For now, Insomniac Games is focusing on Marvel’s Wolverine which will launch on September 15 for PlayStation 5. The game follows Wolverine as he searches for answers about his past, “unleashing brutal claw combat, violent rage and relentless determination—to cut through the mystery of the man he used to be.”
