Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

Call of Duty Movie Release Date Announced

Activision has announced that the live-action Call of Duty movie will release on June 30, 2028. The film will be written and produced by Peter Berg, known for Friday Night Lights, and Taylor Sheridan, known for Yellowstone. Berg will also direct the movie, while Activision president Rob Kostich will serve as a producer. The movie is being co-developed by Activision and Paramount. The companies promise that the film will “thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.”

In recent news, according to Windows Central’s Jez Corden in a recent episode of The Xbox Two Podcast, he has heard rumors that Call of Duty may be removed from Game Pass this year. “It’ll be interesting to see if they take Call of Duty out of Game Pass this year, which is a possibility from what I’ve heard,” said Corden, responding to a comment suggesting that Xbox may prioritize “more niche and PC-focused” titles in its strategy going forward.

And according to the insider account CharlieIntel on Twitter, the next mainline Call of Duty game is set to launch in October. It is reportedly the next installment in the Modern Warfare reboot series. The latest title in the series, Modern Warfare 3, launched in November 2023, and a sequel was reportedly already well into development following its release. Its worth noting this claim has yet to be confirmed by official sources. Modern Warfare II is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Battle.net.
