Beast of Reincarnation Has Difficulty Options And Will Not Be A Soulslike

In a recent Famitsu interview, Beast of Reincarnation director Kota Furushima confirmed that, despite comparisons to other Soulslike games, the title will feature difficulty options. Furushima explained that the team wants the game to be welcoming to players who are new to action games, and that a skill tree system will allow players to reduce the challenge in more difficult areas.

“We’re trying to make it so that even people who aren’t good at action games can enjoy it,” said Furushima (via Google translation). “You can also choose the difficulty level, so if you’re unsure, I think it’s best to lower the difficulty level. Personally, I’d be happy if people could enjoy the game by taking an approach that actually lowers the difficulty level, by devising the skill tree system and Kuu’s support.”

However, the game is still intended to offer a meaningful challenge without being overly punishing. “I think there will be times when you get defeated, and I want players to enjoy trial and error, trying different fighting styles next time, or changing Kuu’s skills,” Furushima continued. “However, I don’t intend for players to never be able to clear the game on their first try, or to have to retry dozens or hundreds of times, so I hope that players will pick it up without being too scared.” Beast of Reincarnation will launch sometime this summer for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
