Drake from Uncharted 4 Thief's End

Uncharted 4’s Hidden Last of Us Easter Egg Revealed

An Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End player recently discovered a nod to The Last of Us on the ocean floor. Twitter user GermanStrands unearthed the remains of a clicker zombie on the ocean floor while searching for pictures to take. Anthony Vaccaro, an environment artist with Naughty Dog noted that this was the first time someone has documented the discovery.

This discover came just in time for the release of the second Last of Us game, coming to PlayStation this month on June 19. Uncharted 4 on the other hand, was released May 10 of 2016. Since then, players have unearthed multiple nods to other Naughty Dog games and references.

During the epilogue of the game, players can discover a poster for “American Daughters”; a reference to the comic American Dreams about Ellie set before the events of the first Last of Us game. Players can also find “strange relics” such as mangoes from Crash Bandicoot, a firefly emblem from The Last of Us, and a precursor orb from Jak and Daxter.

The game also features a humorous nod to E3 2015, when a live demo of Uncharted 4 went wrong. If players stand still for 30 seconds after the appropriate cut-scene, a bronze trophy will be unlocked.

Though Drake’s adventure was (for the most part) wrapped up in A Thief’s End, Naughty Dog has yet to rule out the possibility of another Uncharted game. The epilogue of Uncharted 4 featured Drake and Elena’s daughter, Cassie. If Naughty Dog were to make another Uncharted game, Cassie would likely be Drake’s successor.

It wouldn’t be the first series to feature the original lead’s child as their successor. Wolfenstein: Youngblood stars BJ Blazkowicz’s twin daughters, Jess and Soph. Moreover, The Last of Us 2 stars Ellie, who acts as a daughter figure for Joel, the original lead of the series.
