South Park The Fractured But Whole Has Gone Gold, New Trailer Released

Ubisoft has recently announced that South Park: The Fractured But Whole has officially gone gold, that means development on the game has finished, and its ready for production. South Park: The Fractured But Whole releases on October 17, 2017.

From the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, comes South Park: The Fractured But Whole, a sequel to 2014’s award-winning South Park: The Stick of Truth.

“Gay fish Kanye gives the player the task of helping escort his deceased mother into heaven—devoted followers of Yeezus may recall West’s real-life videogame with a similar premise, Only One. The video then goes to show the gameplay of the gay fish’s mother riding a farting unicorn, in a Flappy Bird-type minigame.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone aren’t exactly the nicest guys in the business (their humor and our resulting laughter is somewhat dependent on it), but we imagine that some would have trouble with them mocking West’s method of grieving—not to mention the imagery of the mother with an extremely dark complexion, puffy red lips and big eyes, which invokes some imagery of minstrel performers in blackface. Of course, this is also the same game that has notorious brat Eric Cartman as “The Coon.”

South Park will keep doing its thing for now, insulting everyone and everything that could possibly feel any offense in its mission to satirize and produce laughs. Eurogamer found a bit of this satire during a recent playthrough, with a “difficulty slider” that apparently (but not really) makes the game more difficult if your character has darker skin. Cartman clarifies, “Don’t worry, this doesn’t affect combat. Just every other aspect of your whole life.”
