Riot Launches Internal Publisher For More LoL Games

Riot Games has launched an internal publishing label to complement their research and development program, with the intended focus of creating new League of Legends games.

“Our focus is to work with experienced studios outside of Riot Games to create bespoke ‘completable’ League of Legends games,” reads the FAQ section of the new Riot Forge official website. “These games will be created and developed by our partner studios and published by Riot Forge. Each game we release will expand the League of Legends universe and allow players to experience League like never before.”

According to the publishing arm’s website, the plan is to empower partner studios, enabling them to find their own voice within the LoL universe. Riot Forge pledges to provide support ranging from quality assurance to localization, voice-overs, research, marketing, and more. Guiding them through the vast library of knowledge amassed over the last ten years, the publishing team will “help them stay true to League lore or advance it by finding their own space to tell their story and re-imagine League in their own style.”

Riot Forge has not yet announced which developers they plan to work with, but they state that “the studios we’re working with are truly fantastic and super talented.” The publisher intends to release games for all platforms: PC, console, and mobile alike, but states they “aim to ensure that each of our games is designed with the right platform in mind for the best possible player experience.”

There’s no word yet in regards to when Riot Forge will publish its first League of Legends title, but this news is certain to entice excitement in fans of the franchise. In addition, Riot Forge will have a world premiere event at this year’s The Game Awards show on December 12.
