PS4 Tournaments: Open Series Goes Online

As an online alternative for the PS4 Tournaments: Challenger Series launched last summer; PlayStation is excited to announce that they will be offering the Open Series. Similar to the Challenger Series, the Open Series will feature weekly qualifiers and rewards for participation and wins.

The upcoming June event will include tournaments for seven games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, EA SPORTS FIFA 20, Mortal Kombat 11, Warface, NBA 2K20, SOULCALIBUR VI, and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. All seven tournaments are open to all eligible participants, and offer unique prizes.

PlayStation adds that top players who succeed in tournaments for EA SPORTS FIFA 20, Mortal Kombat 11, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in North America and Europe, will be invited to play in front of a broadcast to the PlayStation audience.

The series will occur weekly and the finals will take place at the end of the month. Participants will have to compete in weekly qualifiers to earn their way to the final. Participants who do not win are welcome to compete in the series the next month and win unique prizes.

They add that new rewards will be introduced at the start of each month. All participants who enter their first tournament will earn a PS4 Tournaments theme and avatar. To add to that, the value of the rewards will increase with progression, offering elite versions of themes and avatars, and “rarest of the rare Champions PS4 themes and avatars” for players who win.

The cash prize for the weekly qualifier is $100, and the winners of the monthly finals will receive $1,000 or more.

Hopeful applicants can sign up on the competition center, available on mobile and web, to keep track of all tournaments. Moreover, available prizes and schedules of all available tournaments will also be posted here.

Additionally, all participants must have a PS Plus membership to participate in the online multiplayer.
