Project Haven, a tactical turn-based RPG featuring a gritty storyline, was revealed today by Foresight Games.
Disheartened by the lack of tactical turn-based games with enjoyable stories for mature gaming audiences, Foresight Games decided their first game, Project Haven, would be just that. After a successful Steam Greenlight campaign in 2015, the team set out to create a standalone, tactical turn-based experience. Enlisting Edwin McRae, renowed writer of Path of Exile to help guide the narrative, Foresight put in years of work to create their vision, and are now ready to showcase the fruits of their labor.
Project Haven takes place in a fictional post-apocalyptic near-future scenario, where several events made most of the world barren. What remains of the world’s population is concentrated beneath a plasma shield protecting the city of Haven. There, thirty-six million people live under the rule of corporate plutocracy. Outside Haven lies a wasteland, and within resides a society struggling to maintain its humanity.
Players command the Steel Dragons – a group of mercenaries fighting for survival in the harsh, urban future that is Haven City. Selecting and controlling squads of mercs, gamers will battle gangsters, rival mercenaries, and corrupt government forces in a bid to make ends meet and make a difference. Players must manage their crew’s stats and gear, wrangle a diverse range of mercenary personalities, and conquer deep tactical elements designed to make Project Haven a standalone turn-based combat experience.
Along the way, players will undertake missions that will reveal both the depths of desperation and the heights of hope that drive the struggling citizens of Haven City. As the events unfold, the player and their Steel Dragons will come face to face with a dark truth—a cold and brutal conspiracy beats in the corrupted heart of this last city on Earth.
