Possible New Crash Bandicoot Game

Activision has been teasing a new Crash Bandicoot game by sending out mysterious puzzles to influencers and members of the press referencing Crash Bandicoot. These puzzles are attached with a letter that says “A little something to help you pass the TIME.” from “your favorite bandicoot”.

The puzzle itself when completed reveals a smiling mask and broken shards of (presumably) glass. This is not the first appearance of this mask, it also made an appearance in November last year in PlayStation’s “Time to Play” advertisement. Activision has a tendency to send out promotional gifts prior to the announcement of a game, they did this by sending out dragon eggs before the release of Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Additionally, Activision had also done this before with Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled.

The capitalization of the word “TIME” in the letter implies that the new game will be related to time travel. The mask on the puzzle also dons hourglass earrings, which would support this theory. Moreover, the fact that the mask appears to be breaking through glass suggests the idea of time travel gone wrong.

The last game from the franchise came out June 2017 titled Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, which was a modern remaster of the first three games in the franchise; Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back, and Warped. The game was made available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game received positive reviews from critics and sold over 10 million copies in total.

Regardless, a new Crash Bandicoot title is likely to be announced soon, and likely for the next-gen consoles coming this holiday season. Activision is also likely working on a new Call of Duty title, rumored to be named Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.
