Pokémon Go – Team GO Rocket Leaders Arrive Today

Niantic and The Pokémon Company announced the arrival of Team GO Rocket Leaders Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo to Pokémon GO today.

Team GO Rocket Leaders Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo have caught more Shadow Pokémon, strengthening them through unnatural means. Their arrival in the game confirms a suspicion held by Professor Willow—that Giovanni, the boss of both Team GO Rocket and the original Team Rocket, may have arrived in the world of Pokémon GO. By helping Professor Willow, players can track down the villainous Team GO Rocket leaders, and eventually Giovanni himself.

The Team GO Rocket Leaders and Giovanni also seem to be using new technology to conceal the locations of their hideouts. Pokémon trainers who wish to battle the leaders of Team GO Rocket must assemble Rocket Radars from Mysterious Components gathered after defeating Team GO Rocket grunts, and complete Special Research tasks to help locate those hideouts at different PokéStops. There, they can defeat the Team GO Rocket leaders and rescue their Shadow Pokémon, who may have special qualities.

By battling Team GO Rocket Grunts, defeating Team GO Rocket Leaders, and proving themselves an accomplished trainer, players will be able to complete more research to receive a Super Rocket Radar from Professor Willow. The Super Rocket Radar will help fans locate Giovanni himself, from whom they can rescue Legendary Shadow Pokémon. This will prove no easy task, however, as some Team GO Rocket grunts may pretend to be the big boss, hindering player progress toward that ultimate goal.

Pokémon GO is an augmented reality mobile game developed and published by Niantic for iOS and Android devices, and originally launched in July of 2016. By early 2019, the game had crossed over 1 billion downloads worldwide and grossed over $3 billion in revenue.
