New PlayStation Event Set for June 12 – Rumor

Yesterday, Sony announced that they will be postponing its PlayStation 5 reveal event indefinitely. Originally set for June 4, the event will now reportedly take place on June 12.

This information is reported by an anonymous user on 4chan, claiming to be in close contact with the Sony PlayStation marketing department. It is difficult to say whether or not this information is reliable. However, June 12 is not an unrealistic date for the company to move their event to.

June 12 will also be set for EA games to host its EA 2020 play stream, however this event could also be postponed depending on how situations develop. Additionally, The Last of Us 2 reviews will also be published that day.

“The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware.” – Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Studios

Sony is not the only company that has made a decision to postpone events and releases. EA also announced that it will be postponing a reveal for Madden NFL 21originally planned for Monday. Additionally, Google also delayed its Android 11 beta announcement.

The event was originally going to be an hour long stream showing never before seen gameplay on the PlayStation 5, and was likely going to unveil the console for the first time.

Details regarding the new console have been seeing periodic announcements from Sony. Fans of the PlayStation 5 can look forward to a brand new controller, updated with adaptive triggers, as well as a built-in microphone. The console has also been upgraded to allow ray-tracing, 3D audio, and backwards compatibility.
