Monster Hunter World: How to Slay Tzitzi-Ya-Ku – Tips and Tricks

Within the bottom regions of the Coral Highlands, hunters will find Tzitzi-Ya-Ku patrolling its hunting grounds. This bird wyvern has many similarities to the Kulu-Ya-Ku that hunters will have encountered earlier in the Wildspire Wastes. The monster has a small build and a pretty basic set of attacks with a single unique mechanic that can easily stun hunters. Here is a quick look at some tips and tricks for taking down this monster efficiently.

1 – Flash Stun

Tzitzi-Ya-Ku has a stun ability that is highly effective over huge distances. The monster has two distinct antennae on the top of its head that have the ability to stand up and fan out. Once this happens, the inner area of these antennae will flash twice before emanating a massive burst of light that will immediately stun anything in front of the monster within its line of sight. This effect has a much larger range than the monster’s size would suggest, and can even pass through certain areas of cover, if the hunter is still in the Tzitzi-Ya-Ku’s range. The only way to guarantee avoiding this attack is to be anywhere behind the monster, out of line of sight. Even when standing to the side, the massive arc on this attack may still be enough to land the stun. The monster can also chain this effect together, stun locking the hunter. So when the warning flashes begin, do everything possible to get behind it.

2 – Attacks and Patterns

Tzitzi-Ya-Ku is small, but very quick with powerful legs that allow it to clear long distances and traverse its environment with ease. The only special attack the monster has in its arsenal is its massive stun, which it can chain together to stun lock a hunter before using its basic attacks. There are a few basic attacks to watch for. First, when attacking the monster from behind, it will pull its tail back and whip it around in a full rotation, hitting anything standing around it. Second, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku will attack its target with its front claws, pulling back slightly before doing a small charge forward while swiping at the target and possibly causing knock-back damage. These two attacks are easily avoided by dodging once away from the target. Due to the monster’s small size, clearing the attack distance is easily done. Last, from a distance the monster will crouch down for a moment before leaping into the air at its target, kicking its legs and attacking with the talons on its legs and knocking down its target. While the monster is in the air, dodge to the left or right out of the way of its trajectory to avoid damage.

3 – Weaknesses

Tzitzi-Ya-Ku only has one weak area on its body: its head. Focusing attacks on this area is crucial because once the head is broken, the effective distance of its stunning flash is reduced significantly. Also, staying at short range and attacking the target consistently is very beneficial to be able to quickly avoid its stun attack. Tzitzi-Ya-Ku is very weak to both thunder and ice elemental damages, but also takes a decent amount of damage from fire, water, and dragon. It is affected across the board by all the different ailments, so bringing any kind of elemental or ailment weapons and traps will be very useful in getting an advantage against Tzitzi-Ya-Ku during the fight.

Tzitzi-Ya-Ku is not a very intense fight, but provides good practice for hunters to learn how to read special attacks and quickly find the best way to avoid them. Farming this monster can also prove useful for its armor set which provides both stun and sleep resistance, as well as bonus proficiency to flash items used by the hunter. Hopefully these tips and tricks will help any hunter put this monster on farmable status quickly.
