Marvel’s Avengers Beta Announced For August

The Marvel’s Avengers beta, which was teased back at the game’s reveal, has a final release date confirmed by developer Crystal Dynamics. They are planning to include three sessions of the same beta.

The first is exclusive to PS4 players who pre-ordered the full game, kicking off August 7. A week later, on August 14, anyone on PS4 will be able to jump in, but only those who pre-ordered on PC and Xbox One can join them. Finally, the third and final session takes place a week after that, on August 21, which is when the beta will go open on all platforms regardless of pre-order status.

Crystal Dynamics will be hosting a War Table livestream on July 29 for those who are excited to see what is in store for the beta. It will begin at 1PM EST.

Creative director Shaun Escayg stated that players should expect a sampling of everything that is to come in the full release. The beta will feature single-player campaign content, co-op missions as well as War Zone. Drop Zone, a new kind of mission the developer will show off on Wednesday’s stream, is also included.

The game will feature a large range of customization, from weapons to hair and outfits, however progression made on this content will not carry over to the full release of the game from the beta stage.

Marvel’s Avengers is set for a release later this year on September 4. The game is cross-gen, meaning it will available across PlayStation 4 and 5 along with Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Though it is not clear yet how smart delivery will work for the game. The title will also be available on PC and Google Stadia.
