Hearthstone ‘Descent of Dragons’ Expansion Now Live

Mighty Galakrond, strongest dragon in Azeroth’s history, threatens to raze the surface of the world itself in ‘Descent of Dragons’, the new 135-card expansion for Hearthstone.

The ‘Descent of Dragons’ card set sends players to the skies above Dragonblight for an exciting aerial battle between treasure-hunting heroes the League of Explorers and Archvillian Rafaam’s nefarious League of E.V.I.L.

In the new expansion for the free-to-play, digital collectible card game, players will draw upon the power of dragons, summoning all new Legendary Dragons and laying waste to the battlefield with their breath weapons while powering up by embarking on heroic sidequests. In addition, the five “E.V.I.L. classes—Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior—can morph into Galakrond himself through one of five new Hero cards, each with a class-appropriate Battlecry and Hero Power.

The new “invoke” keyword found on minion and spell cards will trigger the effect of Galakrond’s Hero Power, upgrading the massive dragon into his deadlier forms. The mightiest of these is “Galkrond, Azeroth’s End”—a world-shattering monstrosity able to use a quadruple-strength Battlecry as well as a powerful claw attack.

To celebrate the launch of the expansion, Hearthstone players who log into the game will be awarded three ‘Descent of Dragons’ card packs and all five Galakrond Hero cards free. They will also receive two neutral Shield of Galakrond minions featuring the new invoke keyword. Players can rack up a further epic variety of rewards by completing a series of six new Legendary daily quests, including five additional ‘Descent of Dragons’ card packs, two ‘Rise of Shadows’ card packs, two ‘Saviors of Uldum’ card packs, and 200 gold.

Arriving in January is the corresponding Descent of Dragons Solo Adventure, a story-driven finale to Hearthstone’s first-ever year-long narrative.

“Descent of Dragons is full-blown fire-breathing fun, and filled with the vibrant personality and strategic decision-making Hearthstone is known for,” said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “We think players will have a blast building decks around the five powerful new Galakrond Hero cards—or finding clever ways to keep him from taking over the game.”
