God of War Director Cory Barlog Hints At Sci-Fi Project

The Twitter-verse woke up this morning to discover a cryptic tweet from God of War game director Cory Barlog that may hint at a potential science fiction project.

Not only did Barlog tweet this little bit of Morse Code, but his Twitter bio has also changed. His previous picture has now been replaced by a picture of the Voyager 1 satellite, with a cover image of deep space as taken by NASA. The same Morse Code message, “….. ….. …. … .. .” appears there, which a handy Morse Code decoder as well as some sharp Twitter users translates to “55HSIE.”

Speculation is rampant in the wake of this enigmatic message, but what most fans seem to agree on is that this tweet, combined with the shift in profile and cover image indicate that the famed creative director will be taking on some sort of science fiction project in the near future. As for what the tweet itself actually means, many gamers believe it to be a hint as to the time such a project might be revealed. If the “SIE” portion of the message means “Sony Interactive Entertainment,” then perhaps the “55H” portion refers to the number of hours before another hint, or a potential project reveal. Nobody knows for certain, but it’s likely that fans will be keeping their eyes peeled and fixed on Twitter over the next 55 hours, hoping to discover what’s coming next from the lauded creative director.

Cory Barlog is the creative director at Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica Studio, known for his work as lead animator for 2005’s God of War and game director for God of War II and God of War III, as well as 2018’s God of War title. For that last project, Barlog won best game direction and overall game of the year at The Game Awards 2018 ceremony.
