So many video games have included areas for the players to explore that are inspired by real-world elements. The way that each of them is represented speaks volumes of the game world’s status and what it means for the player’s main character. One of the most iconic inspirations for explorable areas is the casino.

Real-world casino resorts are places of fun and excitement as all visitors come to play. They are also huge and advanced as they are built purely for entertainment, unlike cities which were meant to be more functional.

Thanks to this design philosophy, casinos are almost always designed to be alien from the world outside. Therefore, game developers can be creative with what they can make casino resorts to be that are inconsistent with the rest of the world. Here are five iconic casino levels in popular video game titles.

Jewel Resort Casino – Granblue Fantasy

Granblue Fantasy is a gacha game from Cygames where your goal is to strengthen your party by collecting characters and items throughout your journey. The Jewel Resort Casino is an airship that was introduced in Chapter 8 of the main quest and it featured many popular characters in fancy clothes. It has mini-games like poker, slots, and bingo but it is unfortunate that Bitcoin roulette or blackjack are absent.

At this level, you can play casino minigames to win chips which you can trade for valuable prizes. You can win anima, elixir, and soul berries as the lowest-tier prizes. More valuable prizes include fancy skins for your party members such as dresses, suits, and bunny costumes. The most valuable prize in the Jewel Resort Casino is the revolver named ‘Jewel Modele’.

Casino Night Zone – Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a platformer game from SEGA. The franchise has had many casino-themed levels thanks to its popular aesthetic but the Casino Night Zone stood out for most fans. The music and slots-inspired obstacles give the level the perfect mood while you try to rush through towards the finish line.

Unlike in other levels, every element in this zone does not feel like it cuts off Sonic’s momentum. Instead, you can keep running and repeating some routes which are better than losing the rings you have collected because of a trap.

Mr King Dice’s Casino – Cuphead

Cuphead is an action platformer from Studio MDHR. The game features an entire casino as an antagonistic force led by Mr King Dice. Studio MDHR reimagined every casino element from the liquor on the bars to the cards on the tables as malicious sentient characters. Although none of them represents actual casino games, you still have to be on your toes as each of them can attack in a random pattern. You just have to adapt, survive, and adapt until you beat the house.

The Tops Casino – Fallout New Vegas

Fallout: New Vegas is a spinoff game from Bethesda’s Fallout series developed by Obsidian Entertainment. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic future of the Vegas Strip which is now known as the Mojave Wasteland. It is nothing but barren soil and sand as far as the eye can see with its valleys populated by Deathclaws and plateaus as foundations for small settlements.

The only structure left standing and within sight on the horizon is the tower at the Tops Casino in New Vegas. What makes the area interesting is that your journey as a courier leads you through hell on land. You see people suffering in every settlement due to the ongoing war and the inhabitants of irradiated America. However, the Tops offers you food, shelter, dancing, and games as expected from a casino.

The Tops serve as an amazing precursor to the final destination in Fallout New Vegas because you will reach a point of no return upon opening the doors to the strip. This is where you decide the fate of the Wasteland and its inhabitants based on who you side with between the major factions. Before that, you can stay as long as you like to enjoy what the casino offers.

You can play games like blackjack, roulette, and slots. The casino booth can help you convert your cash into any of the world’s currencies such as the NCR dollar, Legion Denarius, and bottle caps. Computers were not developed to an advanced level and electricity is scarce so there is no Bitcoin roulette in the Fallout world.
