Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 Confirmed for Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5

Techland was known for its Dead Island series, but earlier in the current generation, the team released a new IP called Dying Light with more intensive features and smoother gameplay. The game didn’t succeed at launch, but Techland’s non-stop support of the game made a better experience than before through recent years. Now, the series is going to receive its sequel, Dying Light 2, and Techland says from the beginning of the development process they’ve considered it as a cross-gen title.

While none of the next-gen consoles have been officially revealed so far, developers have got the devkits of the new platforms, and based on that, Techland confirmed Dying Light 2 will be launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett. Obviously, the release date for the game’s next-gen edition isn’t determined yet, as we even don’t know when the new Xbox and PlayStation will be hitting stores.

Speaking to Wccftech, chief technology officer at Techland Pawel Rohleder said:

Techland always has an eye on the latest new toys! To be more specific – yes, the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title.

Regardless of next-gen consoles, Dying Light 2 still needs an exact release date for the current-gen platforms. Techland has only revealed that the game will be launched in Spring 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. However, Rohleder revealed some milestones of the studio for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro:

For Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, we want to run at full HD (1920×1080). It’s too early to specify exclusive features for more powerful consoles, but our top priority is a smooth gameplay experience (parkour, combat, etc.)
