Diablo 4 Leak Discusses Atmosphere, Return of Druids

A post on reddit appears to leak more information regarding the atmosphere and play of Diablo 4, whetting player appetite in the final days before BlizzCon.

By now, most Diablo fans know that chances are astronomically high Blizzard will reveal Diablo 4 this Friday at BlizzCon. Yearning for details, they scour social media and news outlets hoping for just one bloody drop in the gothic-horror bucket. At around eleven PM last night, reddit user u/PracticalBrush12 let that drop fall, and if the leak is to be believed, the next entry in the series may just live up to fan expectations.

Describing the atmosphere as looking “dark, gritty, and gross,” u/PracticalBrush12 goes on to say that “Locations are toned down, infrequently laid with corpses, wasteland, greyish deserts, caves surrounded by flesh, rotten crypts, marshes and bogs, plagued cities, you name it.” He then adds that in-game locations seem bigger, perhaps open, and that characters are now able to ride horses, and potentially other mounts as well.

In addition to the above, u/PracticalBrush states that he knows of three classes for the game so far: mage/sorcerer, barbarian, and—to the sure delight of D2 fans—druid, who will be able to transform into bear and werewolf forms. Indeed, if this leak is true, Diablo 4 will contain more nods to Diablo 2 than Diablo 3 did, with the return of Lilith, characters situated at a campfire at the character selection screen, a return to the darker, bloodier atmosphere, and the return of old skills.

A look through u/PracticalBrush’s post history shows many of his leaks were truthful, so while nothing is confirmed until Blizzard makes an official announcement, gamers may wish to consider his past track record when choosing whether or not to put stake in this particular leak.

A tweet by ResetEra mod and industry insider @ZhugeEX seemed to confirm that this information is legitimate.

Earlier this week, Gaming Instincts reported on another Diablo 4 leak, coming from a digital artbook and leaked on Twitter by @WeakAuras, the makers of the World of Warcraft addon of the same name. This leak seemed to confirm the presence of Lilith in a more central role than she played in Diablo 2, where she only appeared for a brief time. GI also covered a World of Warcraft leak that may confirm the next WoW expansion as Shadowlands.

Gaming Instincts will cover BlizzCon live as events unfold, so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for all the Diablo 4 news and BlizzCon updates!
