Cyberpunk 2077 Livesteam Scheduled For Tomorrow

Cyberpunk 2077 Livestream Scheduled For Tomorrow, Expected To Showcase PS5 and Series X|S Versions and Release Dates

CD Projekt Red will be holding a Livestream tomorrow, during which the studio is expected to finally unveil the long-awaited next-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 along with a release date for these versions. This presentation is set to begin on February 15, at 7am PT, 10am ET, 3pm GMT, and 4pm CET.

Cyberpunk 2077 tweeted out a teaser for this live stream, playing off the fact that today is Valentine’s day by stating “So, choom, how ’bout a date? We’ll talk things, y’know,” using several slang words from the game.

This news comes hot off the heels of several leaks since the start of the year. Last month, a PlayStation 5 version of the game was spotted on the backend of PlayStation Store servers, suggesting that the company was gearing up to announce the version. Coming just today, Xbox users have also spotted markers for the game stating it has been ‘optimized for series X/S’ which it did not have before, suggesting that is indeed what we will get tomorrow.

The next-gen update, which will be free for all users across both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series as well as a standalone release, was originally planned to release in 2021 though they were unable to discuss a planned date at the time. It was delayed out of 2021 in the second half of they but at the time was suggested to be on track for this new timeframe. This is along with the upgrade version of their previous title, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt which is also slated to come to the new generations this year.

In an interview last year with Polish economic newspaper Rzeczpospolita. CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński discussed this decision to delay the upgrades, stating:

The decision to postpone the next-gen version of Cyberpunk was a difficult one, but we are confident that it was the right one, especially since it was clearly recommended by our development team. We need the extra time to fine-tune the visuals and performance of the game to be as high quality as possible throughout the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 received notoriety upon its launch for the buggy state of the game, being removed from the PlayStation Store due to the many glitches and bugs present as well as the near inability for the game to run on base versions of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While the game is not perfect by any stretch, the last year has been spent fixing a large number of these bugs, putting the game in a much better state now than it was. Since the game had issues running on previous-gen, many have hope that the next-gen versions would be inherently a better experience, even before factoring in the fixes that have gone into the title.

Recently it was stated that the game is currently in a state where less emphasis can be placed on patches and more can be focused on additional content including free and paid DLC that is planned for the game. Recently acquired by CD Projekt, indie studio The Molasses Flood is also working on something either Witcher or Cyberpunk related, though nothing more has been stated on that yet.
