A blog post on the official PlayStation website introduced players to the official DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment.
With a sleek design meant to elevate fans gameplay by delivering more versatility and performance, the attachment seeks to maintain the comfort and feel of the DualShock 4 wireless controller that players have come to love and expect. All gamers can agree that nothing ruins a game faster than a thumb-cramp arriving at the worst possible moment.
The attachment features two programmable and highly-tactile back buttons, affording gamers the ability to utilize more of their hand—shortening response time and offering more flexibility during competitive gameplay. These back buttons can map up to sixteen different actions, such as triangle, circle, R1, and R2, while providing amazing tactile feedback. The attachment also has an integrated OLED display, providing players real-time information about their button assignments, in case they’re the forgetful sort.
A dedicated button on the attachment allows users to remap the back button inputs on the fly, adjusting to whatever game they are playing at any time. In addition, players can save and choose up to three different profiles for faster configuration swapping in their favorite titles. To add a cherry on top of the controller cake, the DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment also has a headset pass-through for connecting any 3.5mm wired headset to the controller.
The attachment was developed by PlayStation, so gaming purists who are loyal to the franchise may wish to pick one up when it launches in the US and Canada on January 23, 2020 for USD $29.99/CAD $39.99.
