Anthem Player's Boycotting Until Loot Improves

Anthem Players are Enacting a Boycott Until Loot Improves

The Anthem Reddit community is currently enacting a boycott of the game, which will last until this Friday 15th. This is in reaction to the loot bug that occurred last week, marking its second appearance.

This bug meant significantly more loot was dropping in high-level dungeons. Players seemed to be actually enjoying themselves for a time last week, but it didn’t last long. With the arrival of Patch 1.0.3 on Saturday, the loot-table returned to normal.

This led to massive dissatisfaction from the players who, understandably, feel that they are being toyed with. The issue then spun out of control, with a developer responding to say that the game would take ‘months’ to fix.

This comes only a week after advice was handed out by Blizzard developer Travis Day. He asked BioWare to embrace a generous mentality in regards to loot. He concluded with:

“I hope this sparks positive conversations about the parts of the reward system in need of attention. I’ve been enjoying the game greatly and am intimately familiar with all the problems that come with trying to set up reward structures for a game of this nature, hopefully this is useful and can contribute to Anthem becoming an even stronger game over time.”

Sadly, it seems this has been ignored to a large degree, or at least the timing of the bug’s arrival and removal has been utterly horrific.

We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything else, but currently there has been little to no direct BioWare response to the issue and players eagerly await some constructive feedback that isn’t suggesting they might have to wait ‘months’ to resume playing.
