Anthem – Icetide Winter Event Planned, On PTS

Despite recent setbacks, embattled loot-shooter Anthem will still get a winter event, which features unique, appropriately-themed rewards.

Dubbed “Icetide”, the winter event is available on the current Anthem PTS, and will be released to the live game sometime in the near future. During the Icetide PTS, players can complete a version of the Tyrant Mine stronghold that includes timers, score multipliers, Inversions, and leaderboards. Through these, gamers can increase their scores to earn Crystals and purchase unique, winter-themed rewards.

In Freeplay, players will engage in more encounters with outlaws, localized Snow Globe Storms they can take on, and a new event—the Freelancer Time Trial. The Time Trial is a race event which will respawn every five minutes, and allows Freelancers to compete with each other to prove who owns the fastest javelin in all Bastion. In addition, festive decorations around Fort Tarsis and the Launch Bay will add some holiday cheer to the player experience.

The Icetide PTS will remain available throughout the rest of today, November 11, 2019, and is accessible by all current Anthem PC owners, or anyone with an active Origin Access subscription. Interested players need only click on the special Anthem PTS tile in their Origin game library to install the PTS and get started.

In recent news, Anthem live service producer Chad Robertson left BioWare after fourteen years with the company, leaving fans concerned for the game’s future. Worry runs rampant through the die-hard Freelancer community, particularly since lead producer Ben Irving also left the company back in August, just after the game’s long-promised Cataclysm event went live.

That the Anthem team has still developed and produced a winter event despite the game’s rocky life so far may indicate that there is yet hope for Bastion and its ardent defenders.
