Android 17 Officially Joins the Battle in DRAGON BALL FighterZ

BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe today announced Android 17 as the latest character to join the Dragon Ball FighterZ roster. The character will be available both as a standalone DLC and as part of the FighterZ Pass for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC via STEAM from September 27th.

Android 17 originally appeared in Dragon Ball Z in the Android saga along with his sister Android 18. They were first introduced in the series as villains, but they eventually turned good once everyone knew that Cell was the main bad guy that needed to be defeated.

Android 17 was gone for a while, but he came back many years later to be a part of Dragon Ball Super. Universe 7 needed more fighters on the team and Goku managed to recruit him. Android 17 became very important because he was the eventual winner and sole survivor of the Tournament of Power contest. Dragon Ball FighterZ will include him wearing his Dragon Ball Super attire.

His fighting style makes me think of Bardock a bit, but with some obviously unique aspects. The question I had, as many of you likely thought, was if Android 18 would be an assistant to Android 17 when I first started the trailer. You do see that 18 jumped in, using the same fashion as 17 when playing as 18, in the trailer – albeit very briefly.

This is a very suitable character addition that many have been waiting on. Now the only thing left to ask yourself is: Is Android 17 worth purchasing as DLC? Personally I feel that this should be a free add-on character as he should of been part of the base game from the start. I still believe it didn’t make sense to have both Android 16 and 18 without 17 being his own playable character.
