Alan Wake Title Card

Alan Wake Might Come to Current Gen Consoles

When Alan Wake released back 2010, it did so with mass critical acclaim. Remedy, the developer, had another hit on their hands. After two more story paid DLC and an Xbox Live Arcade stand alone game in 2012, Alan Wake went into hibernation. Soon Remedy was on to their next game Quantum Break and fast forward to August of this year, they released Control.

Since its release, Alan Wake has achieved mythic status among fans of the series. The way the story left off, left many fans clamoring for more. Now there might be something stirring but might not what people were expecting. According to a rumor, courtesy of a video by youtuber Doctre81, Alan Wake could be receiving a remaster or port to the current generation of consoles.

In the video, he points out that Virtuos games is working on an unannounced AAA action/adventure remake. Now that by itself would not be alot of evidence, but there are other things also pointing to this. Earlier this year, Remedy Entertainment bought the publishing rights of Alan Wake from Microsoft.

When asked about what this could mean, a Remedy spokesman said:

The only thing we want to clarify, now that Remedy owns the publishing rights, is that we could bring Alan Wake to different platforms if we so choose.

That still probably would not be enough evidence, if it was not for the fact that Virtuos has worked with Remedy in the past. Virtuos helped in the development of Quantum Break, and has a track record of doing remasters for current gen hardware.

Again this is just speculation at this time, but an this new remaster has been long requested by fans. Remedy could release to a new generation of gamers, who seem to really be enjoying their most recent game Control. This could be a really good time to for Alan Wake to see the light of day again.
